Introduction to Graphics Files – Vector and Raster files

Here is a summary of the differences between raster and vector files:

  • Raster files are images that are made up of pixels. Pixels are tiny squares that are arranged in a grid. The more pixels an image has, the higher its resolution will be. Raster images are good for photos and other images that need to look realistic. However, they can be large file sizes and can lose quality when they are resized.
  • Vector files are images that are made up of mathematical equations. These equations define the shape, size, and color of the image. Vector images are good for logos and other images that need to be scalable. They can be resized without losing quality. However, they can be more difficult to create and edit than raster images.
  • Graphics files come in two primary types: raster and vector. Raster files consist of pixels arranged in a grid, suitable for realistic images like photos but may lose quality when resized. On the other hand, vector files utilize mathematical equations, ideal for scalable images like logos without losing quality. While raster files (JPEG, GIF, PNG, TIFF) are easier to create and edit, vector files (EPS, SVG, AI) offer precision and scalability. Understanding these differences empowers designers to choose the right format for diverse visual projects.

Here is a table that summarizes the key differences :

Feature Raster Vector
Image type Pixelated Mathematical equations
Resolution Can be resized without losing quality Can lose quality when resized
File size Larger Smaller
Good for Photos, realistic images Logos, scalable images
Difficulty Easier to create and edit More difficult to create and edit

Here are some examples of raster and vector files extension:

  • Raster files: JPEG, GIF, PNG, TIFF
  • Vector files: EPS, SVG, AI

Central Tent can help with many types of artworks that may require vectorization.   Please sent those files to [email protected] so we can help further.

Clear Tent Season https://www.centraltent.com/product/clear-tent-season-is-almost-upon-us/ Mon, 09 May 2022 15:28:35 +0000 https://www.centraltent.com/?post_type=product&p=12455 A clear tent is constructed in the same manner as a traditional frame tent, the difference being that the covering material is clear. Clear top tents are best used for night functions during summer months, or during the day in the fall and spring months.

Clear top tents are the perfect choice for brides and event planners because such tents provide a blank canvas, freeing brides and event planners to design the most creative and comfortable environment for their guests. Decorations and floor plan options are practically endless with a clear top tent. These tents offer unobstructed views from one end of the room to the other, allowing guests to move freely throughout the space. The clear covering creates a unique look at night with surrounding gardens and trees lit up or when the sky is clear.

Clear Tent Disclosure:

Clear tents are not made with reinforced fabric.  They should be handled with extreme care.  It will tear very easily.  As with any tent, ground cover should be used.

  1. Do not pull the clear tent too tight as it will stretch more than necessary.
  2. Do not allow fabric to freeze. Clear tents can not be installed below 55 or above 95 degrees Fahrenheit.
  3. When the tents are up, the tent needs to be checked every 4 hours or to deem fit.  As the clear tent will stretch, rain pockets can not occur; check tightness of webbing and any stretch of fabric needs to be fixed on site.
  4. Clear tent transparency will deteriorate over time.
  5. Clear Tent fabric can shrink when cold and expand when hot.
  6. Assembling the clear tent in the sun will make the tent heat up very fast.  Avoid assembling the tent in the sun. Ideally, you will set up at night, early morning, and late in the afternoon.  When the sun hits the tent, the tent will make the temperature inside rise very fast.
  7. Clear tents should not be washed.  Wipe and dry with warm water or mild vinyl cleaner only.  Washing will cause severe mildew, scratch, and stretching.

**Guidelines for Storing Tent Equipment**

Quick Peak 20x
Quick Peak 20x

Proper storage of tent equipment is crucial to maintaining its quality and prolonging its lifespan. Tents, especially when used in commercial settings, need regular care to avoid damage from environmental factors like moisture, abrasion, and rust. This guide provides detailed instructions on how to store tent tops, tent fittings, and tent poles to ensure they remain in excellent condition.

**Tent Tops:**

Tent tops are made of a durable vinyl fabric designed to withstand various weather conditions. This commercial-grade fabric features vinyl coatings on both sides, providing protection and durability. However, the vinyl coating can easily scrape away if the tent is dragged over abrasive surfaces such as concrete or asphalt. Therefore, it is essential to handle the tent tops carefully and avoid contact with rough or harsh surfaces that could cause damage.

Before storing, it is crucial to ensure that the tent top is completely dry. If the tent is stored while still damp, moisture can penetrate the fabric, leading to mold growth and mildew caused by bacterial buildup. Once mildew forms inside the fabric, it becomes exceedingly difficult to remove. To prevent this, lay the tent top flat on a clean surface and allow it to dry thoroughly. This step is especially important after an event where the tent has been exposed to rain or high humidity.

When it comes to storage bags, breathable bags are ideal because they allow any trapped moisture to escape, reducing the risk of mold and mildew. However, most commercial storage bags are made from vinyl, which is less breathable. If using a vinyl bag, keep the top of the bag slightly open to allow for air circulation and moisture evaporation.

Most commercial tents, like those from Central Tent, come with stainless steel buckles that resist rust formation. However, if your tent has buckles made of other materials that are prone to rusting, ensure they are thoroughly dried before storage. This will help prevent rust from forming and compromising the tent’s functionality and appearance.

**Tent Fittings:**

Tent fittings, which are crucial components that hold the tent structure together, are typically made from coated steel. While this coated steel is rust-resistant, it is not entirely rust-proof. Over time, especially with prolonged exposure to moisture, rust can start to form on the fittings. To prevent rust from penetrating the surface, it’s advisable to apply a protective coat of paint to the fittings regularly.

The rate at which rust develops depends on factors such as exposure to rust-inhibiting agents (like saltwater), the extent of rainwater exposure, and the surface treatment of the fittings. Regular maintenance, including cleaning and painting, can significantly extend the life of tent fittings.

**Tent Poles:**

Tent poles are often made of anodized aluminum, which provides a degree of protection against rust. However, like coated steel, anodized aluminum is not rust-proof. Over time, the anodized coating can wear off, especially if the poles are subjected to abrasive use, such as dragging or sliding against each other. This wear can lead to the formation of aluminum oxide, a type of white rust. When this type of rust comes into contact with the vinyl tent top, it can create black marks that are difficult to remove.

To minimize the risk of damage, it is essential to store aluminum tent poles in a dry area, away from water exposure. If the aluminum surface becomes exposed to moisture, oxidation will occur, forming aluminum oxide. To prevent this, handle aluminum poles with care, avoid stacking them directly on top of each other without protection, and ensure they are thoroughly dry before storage.

**Conclusion:**

Proper storage and handling of tent equipment, including tent tops, fittings, and poles, are essential to maintaining their quality and extending their service life. By following these guidelines—ensuring tent tops are dry, using breathable storage solutions, protecting fittings from rust, and preventing oxidation on aluminum poles—you can keep your tent equipment in excellent condition and ready for future use. Regular maintenance, careful handling, and mindful storage practices are key to preserving the value and functionality of your tent investments.

To ensure that the tent stays within it’s original framework and tent stability, a crossbar is needed to support the tent structure.

Cross Cables and Rafter Crossbar are needed to stabilize a long tent build.  This applies to 20 ft. through 40 ft. wide with length of 30 or more.

Typical Rafter Crossbar, 3 point cables and leg brace setting. The braces help minimize the load from the joint to stabilize the tent. The cross cable also helps maintain the width of the tent. The cable supports the sides by pulling them inward.

Expandable – Explanation and Types https://www.centraltent.com/product/expandable-explanation-and-types/ Sat, 19 Mar 2016 08:54:35 +0000 http://www.cttent.com/?post_type=product&p=1285 There are three types of expandables, Plastics Buckles, Metal Surcingles (Clasps), or Rope Laceline.

The plastic expandables are the most widely used because they are easier to put-up while still providing strength and durability.  The system is closed with Velcro flaps to make water tight connection.

The metal surcingles is an older style expandable and features easy installation.  The drawback is the strength of the buckles loosen easily.

The rope laceline expandable system is strongest of the three.  This is harder to assemble system. It comes with two types of configurations - straight or half and half.
